Before buying a budget car, many car enthusiasts have a dilemma - which is better: Renault Logan or Lada Granta. The first car is produced by a French concern, and the second is a representative of the domestic automobile industry. Second generation Renault
The second generation Renault Logan made a real breakthrough in terms of appearance. In the previous version, the sedan was boring and inexpressive even in comparison with the Grant. The new one is much more solid and modern than its predecessor: a powerful grille grille with a large emblem, muscular arches, and a wing on the trunk lid. But the doors were left almost the same, and the handles were not changed to a natural grip.
The interior material of the new Logan resists stains and pleases the driver's eye with its color combination. The optional touchscreen infotainment system is the crown jewel of the cabin. The interior decoration is two-tone, and not dull, like in Lada. There is a sense of style and solidity in it, as if this car stands with one wheel in the budget class, and the other in the category of more expensive cars.
The driving position in the Grant is a compromise, and coupled with the design and quality of the interior, it is inferior to the Logan. As a result, the score is 2:1 in favor of the foreign competitor. Logan-1 remained in the Russian top sales until the very end. The suspension is perhaps its most successful part, which has not become worse in the new generation. The realities of Russian roads in front of this car cease to be insurmountable. But the anti-roll bar on Logan 2 was removed, and this reduced the drive and reduced safety.
The smoothness of the ride has deteriorated, and small irregularities are felt more strongly than when driving the previous generation model. Engine 1.6 liters. The new model has lost a couple of horsepowers, but the torque has increased significantly. By the way, it is achieved already at 2,800 rpm, but you won’t be able to feel these changes even if you change to the old model. But the changes will affect... the wallet: Logan engines now require gasoline with an octane rating of at least 95, whereas previously 92 was easily digested.
As for dynamics, Logan 2 is not a car for those who like to burn at traffic lights. It is for a calm driver, especially when equipped with an 8-valve engine. His work is, of course, audible, but not as much as in Grant. And yet Logan is the same workhorse he was before.
