- A faulty starter, or more precisely, a solenoid relay: if it breaks down on the road, you can try tapping it lightly if it just jams. Having reached the overpass, you need to turn it manually - connect the body to zero on the battery, and the other contact to positive.
- If the starter actively begins to turn, the problem is not with it; if there is a current supply, but it does not turn, the brushes are broken. Lack of response will indicate a malfunction of the retractor relay, and a sharp and unpleasant sound will indicate a breakdown of the overrunning clutch in the starter.

The connection of the contacts itself also requires study, since it is likely that they have broken or oxidized due to moisture - they will need to be cleaned or re-twisted, and then insulated.
Carburetor internal combustion engines
Of course, the engine may not start due to a malfunction of individual carburetor elements (contamination of jets, channels) or incorrect adjustment. If fuel does not flow, it is necessary to defect the fuel pump parts.
If you understand that fuel is being supplied to the intake manifold, but there is no ignition of the fuel-air mixture, you should “dig” in the following direction:
- Unscrew the spark plugs and evaluate the carbon deposits. If you are unable to start the engine right away, you may have already “flooded” the spark plugs. Now it is advisable to unscrew and dry them in any case;
- disconnect the main armor wire, bringing it closer to the metal part. Try turning the motor. You will immediately notice a spark if it comes to the ignition distributor. You should also check the armored wires for “breakdown”;
- If there is no spark on the main wire, carefully inspect the wires for breaks. If the circuit connections are in good condition, you should proceed to checking the coil. It is she who generates the spark;
- ignition distributor and its cover. Check the size of the gap, the cleanliness of the contacts, and the presence of play. Of course, if the ignition is not set correctly, the car will not start.
No spark at the spark plug
Just among all the reasons that the VAZ-2114 turns over but does not start, most often motorists are faced with the absence of a spark at the spark plug. You can check this this way: by unscrewing one spark plug, connect it to a high-voltage wire and carefully, touching only the insulated parts, apply it to the cylinder head cover. At the same time, a second person must turn the starter from the passenger compartment, and if there is no spark, we need to look for the problem.

- apply a spark to the first and third or second and fourth cylinders;
- recognize injection phase irregularities;
- As a preventative measure, clean the contacts on the electronic control unit from oxidation.
Other problems starting diesel engines
Another reason why the starter spins for quite a long time, but the engine cannot be started, may be caused by air in the high-pressure pump. First you need to check if there is power to the damping valve. We turn on the ignition and use the control lamp that is already familiar to us. When connected, the valve should make clicks, and their absence may indicate a malfunction.
All that remains is to check the fuel line - unscrew either the injector return line or the plug. If there is a manual pumping option, it should be carried out until diesel fuel flows and air stops flowing. If you cannot bleed, then it makes sense to check the fuel filter, which is often clogged with paraffin from the fuel or ordinary dirt.

The simplest problem is that the car stalled while driving. The fault is searched for a maximum of 15 minutes. In your case, everything has already been chewed. no spark?
