How does the Lada Largus Cross differ from the regular Largus?

Any cross-version, in theory, should be better than its base version. But if we talk about the Largus family, the only advantage of the Cross version is its high ground clearance. The engines are the same.

The ground clearance of all VAZ crossovers can be measured. You can find out what it equals from the video.

Specifications

Engine LADA Largus Cross 2021

One of the main advantages of the LADA Largus Cross 2021 can be considered the ground clearance increased to 19.5 centimeters. The rest of the car's characteristics are quite mediocre: under the hood there will be an uncontested 1.6-liter gasoline engine with an output of 105 horsepower. The drive will be front-wheel drive only, and the gearbox will be a five-speed manual. The plant is discussing the possibility of installing a 1.8-liter power unit with 122 horsepower on the car in the future, but whether this project is being implemented is still unknown.

As a test drive of the new product showed, the car copes quite well with city roads and highways, but, despite the prefix “cross” in the name, it is not very suitable for off-road use. In addition, both fuel consumption and the dynamic qualities of the car are very far from modern standards.

Firstly, the Cross model received a plastic protective body kit around the perimeter of the body so that in case of various off-road conditions or trips through the forest, the body would not be scratched; in addition to the body kit, the Cross has a plastic silver trim on its front bumper. Also, the door pillars of the Cross model have black plastic trims.

Another external and technical difference is that the Cross model is equipped only with 16-inch wheels with wider tires, unlike the regular Largus, which has only 15-inch wheels.

There are no differences inside except for inserts of different colors. The most important difference between these cars is the Cross's increased ground clearance by 25 mm. This was achieved by installing different springs, shock absorbers and other irreplaceable suspension elements.

One more nuance. If the Largus is equipped with an 8-valve and 16-valve 1.6-liter engine, then the Cross SUV is only equipped with a 16-valve engine, producing 105 horsepower and 148 Newton-meters of torque. The gearbox is five-speed manual.

Yes, and the Cross will have only one configuration, so it will immediately have all the possible options that the Largus has in the maximum version. There will be no choice. Naturally, in terms of prices, the crossover version will cost a little more.

The difference in the price of test cars is insignificant. Today, for a regular Largus in the Luxe Prestige version, they are asking 637,700 rubles, and for the cross-version in a similar Luxe configuration - 659,200 rubles.

We meet by clothes

There are not many external differences between the Largus. And only by looking closely, you can determine that the cross-version is slightly taller than the donor. It has unpainted bumpers with gray inserts on the lower part, as well as additional black trim on the wheel arches and sills. The regular Largus is equipped with 15-inch wheels, while the Crosses are equipped with 16-inch wheels. The only thing is that both have the same spare wheel, 15 inches, so in the first case the spare wheel is full-size, and in the second it is only in stock status. We have both cars in the maximum configuration: Largus Cross in the Luxe version, and the regular Largus - Luxe Prestige. Actually, the Prestige prefix only means cast wheels instead of stamped ones. But the cross modification has alloy wheels installed by default.

This frame reflects, perhaps, the main difference between the Largus with the Cross prefix and the station wagon. The difference in ground clearance is visible to the naked eye.

The interiors are identical, but the seat upholstery of the pseudo-crossover is enlivened by intersecting stitches. On the center console of the Cross there are gray plastic inserts, the same on the doors. By the way, a design option with similar bright orange inserts is available. And without any additional payments.

Is there a difference in comfort

In the Lada Largus Cross, the interior is more diluted with orange inserts in the doors and seats. Looks quite stylish.

Almost from the very moment the car appeared on the market, the Cross was available only in the luxury configuration of the standard Largus. Accordingly, each version of this station wagon is equipped with:

  • Airbags;
  • Air conditioning;
  • Anti-lock system;
  • Improved brake system with separate distribution to wheels;
  • Adjusting mirrors;
  • Electric lifts;
  • Heated seats;
  • Others.

As for the orange inserts and the delay, this solution seemed more modern and youthful to the AvtoVAZ designers. This may have something to do with the brightness of the colors they chose. But if you wish, you can change the color during the purchasing process. This was done in order not to lose focus on an older audience.

In fact, there are only two versions of Largus Cross; they differ from each other only in the number of seats in the cabin. There are five and seven-seater versions of the car.

Pleasant differences

During the measurements, it turned out that the ground clearance of the Cross version is as much as 210 mm (under the protection of the engine crankcase). For a car that, according to its creators, should regularly drive off the asphalt, this is not bad. For a regular Largus, the ground clearance was 182 mm under a similar engine compartment shield. By the way, the manufacturer states that when fully loaded, including passengers in the last, third row of seats, the ground clearance will be at least 170 and 145 mm, respectively.

Interior

Comparing the interior style is completely pointless. As much as the Lada Vesta is bright and attractive inside, the Largus is boring and simple.

Vesta confirms its status as a modern car. The transitions and lines in the dashboard are made in the best traditions, high-quality finishing materials, a comfortable steering wheel, moderately dense and well-profiled seats, a spacious back row, an armrest, well-chosen colors, impressive wells in the dashboard, poisonous lighting, etc.

The interior of the Lada Vesta is original and attractive - there is nothing to reproach it with.

In contrast to Vesta, the station wagon simply has nothing to demonstrate. The dull design of the interior, with its straight lines, surprisingly unnatural metal-look inserts on the budget black plastic of the dashboard and steering wheel, tasteless nozzles for air deflectors, simple instrument dials - the same old Logan, but in a new body. However, the ergonomics are not bad, although some of the controls are blocked by the gearshift lever, and I would like the lateral support of the seats to be more developed. And the orange backlight breaks up the monotony a little.

This is not to say that the interior of the Lada Largus is bad. He's just expressionless.

In general, the Largus interior is quite comfortable, but extremely boring, and after Vesta, being surrounded by such “luxury” is simply unbearable.

As I was told at VAZ, when working with the suspension of the cross-version, the engineers were faced with the task of maintaining the suspension settings of the regular Largus as much as possible, and they succeeded. In terms of handling and level of driving comfort, the cars are very similar. At least, the average driver is unlikely to feel the difference in the behavior of the car on a good road. But when driving on a dirt road or broken asphalt, the Largus Cross slightly benefits in terms of smoothness due to the increased rolling radius of the wheel and wider tires.

Exterior

Externally, the cars look as if they came from different eras, and this comparison is by no means in favor of Lagrus.

Its straight lines in the front, contoured headlights, round foglights, a sloping hood, the black “mouth” of the radiator grille, which is intersected only by one wide chrome strip, the utilitarian air intake mesh - all this would have been out of place 10, or even 15 years ago, but not now.

The front of the Lada Largus is simple and uncomplicated, like the whole car.

In profile, the impressions are about the same. Everything is overly old-fashioned. Smooth door lines, simple rims, simple stampings and small body overhangs. All this looks quite harmonious, but not modern. Only the moldings on the door panels brighten up the picture somewhat.

From the side the picture is the same. And only black moldings somehow dilute this grayness.

The rear, with its sliding rear door format, large windows, elongated stops, as well as a low and narrow bumper, only confirms the first impression.

Behind Largus everything is in the same format - no revelations.

Whether it's Lada Vesta! Catchy design, smooth transitions of body lines and other essential attributes of a modern car.

The front end is memorable for the brilliant curves of the lines of the letter “X”, setting off the blackness of the radiator grille, which imperceptibly turns into the air intake. The faceted optics look no less impressive, as do the fog lights, “settled” below, in stylish seats.

The front of the Lada Vesta is much more aggressive. The speed in him is overflowing.

The tilted silhouette of the car from the side is no less impressive. on the sidewalls, the split spokes of the wheel rims, the slightly tilted roof, the feet climbing onto the rear fenders and other elements are immediately remembered.

Vesta looks no worse from the side, regardless of color.

Vesta looks no less impressive from behind. Large letters formed into the word “LADA”, trunk lid, feet, bumper – all this looks organic, creating one complete ensemble!

It is gratifying that the designers worked with no less persistence on the appearance of the stern of the LADA Vesta.

Options and prices

There is no need to count on an abundance of configurations: the cross-version has a “Luxury” specification, and the number of seats and body design also varies - all-metal with a partition or with glazing in the cargo-passenger version. The price of the simplest car will be just over 650 thousand rubles, and the upper limit will come close to 1 million Russian currency.
