A car is a place where a person is often in danger. Therefore, modern cars are equipped with various systems and means that increase the safety of the driver and passengers. These devices include seat belts. In early versions of VAZ 2106 cars, rear belts were not installed at the factory, although fastenings were provided for them. You should consider in detail the algorithm for replacing the front seat belts on a VAZ 2106 car. To do this, you need to prepare the following tools:

It is recommended to replace the alternator belt after the car has driven 15,000 kilometers or after defects such as severe stretching or excessive wear of the working surfaces are discovered.
Procedure for dismantling and installing rear elements
Rear seat belts are generally more durable than front seat belts. But from time to time you have to replace them too.
When dismantling and installing these mechanisms at the rear, use the tools mentioned above. The procedure for dismantling them is as follows:
- First, the rear seat backrest is removed.
- Using a flat-head screwdriver, remove the decorative covers of the mounting bolts at the top and bottom.
- Then the bolts themselves are unscrewed along with the lower and upper fasteners.
- Carefully remove the coil and guide.
- To completely dismantle the old device, you need to insert it together with the hinge and guide into the slot in the rear pillar trim panel.
Then you can replace the old lock with a new one. To do this, you need to unscrew the mounting bolts and easily remove the old locks. Please note that this work is performed with the rear seat backrest removed. New rear security devices and locks are installed in exactly the reverse order.
An important stage in carrying out this type of work is checking the correct installation of the mechanisms. When moving smoothly, the belt should move freely, be easily secured in the lock, and when jerked, it should be sharply fixed in a certain position.
Thus, having the necessary tools at hand and following the detailed instructions, you can easily replace the safety mechanisms on your VAZ 2106 yourself.
How to replace the front seat belts together with the lock on a VAZ 2108-VAZ 21099?
Replacing front seat belts:
Note! Both belts are replaced identically, so we will show you their replacement using the example of only one belt!
Removal: 1) At the very beginning of the operation, remove the lower seat belt bracket by unscrewing the bolt securing it. And after that, remove the middle pad from the rack. (For how to remove the lower belt bracket and how to remove the middle pad from the stand, see the article: “Replacing carpeted flooring,” in paragraphs “3-6”)
2) Next, lifting yourself a little higher, disconnect the decorative trim from the upper seat belt bracket.
3) And then, using a wrench or a socket wrench, unscrew the bolt of the upper fastening of the seat belt bracket.
Note! When the bolt is unscrewed, remove the bracket together with the bolt and the metal sleeve located on it!
4) After removing the bracket, move to the bottom and unscrew the bolt that secures the belt reel.
5) And as a result, remove the coil.
Installation: Installing a new seat belt is done in the reverse order of removal, that is:
1) First, the coil is installed and, as a result, secured with a bolt.
2) Next, the middle pad is attached to the rack.
Note! It is not recommended to tighten the screws tightly on the middle cover, otherwise it may simply become deformed!
3) After securing it, the upper bracket of the seat belt is installed, after which it is secured with a bolt, and a decorative trim is installed on top of it.
4) And finally, the lower bracket of the seat belt is secured with a bolt, and as a result a decorative plug is installed on it.
Replacing the front security lock:
1) To remove the seat belt buckle, use a wrench or socket wrench to unscrew the bolt that secures the buckle.
2) Finally, remove the lock and bolt from the seat.
Note! The operation to install a new security lock is performed in reverse order!

Many people mistakenly think that rear seat belts fit from eights and nines to ninety-nines. But that's not true.

There was a need to install rear seat belts to secure a child restraint system. Based on many reviews, I learned that standard seat belts are not enough to secure a 0/0+ cradle. The belt is simply not long enough. The question arose that from the second Samar the belt could be longer. And then I started digging and getting information.
Similarities and differences.
I ran around with a tape measure to find out the length of the belts, read the Internet and discovered this interesting information. In Samara, everyone’s front belts are the same length, about 2.9 meters. The operating principle of these belts is identical, i.e. They work only when installed in a strictly vertical position (working angle 90 degrees). Conclusion: front belts can be installed on both 8, 9 and 99. The same applies to 13, 14 and 15 models. Now let's move on to the rear seat belts. But with them everything is much more interesting. The identity of car models 8, 9 and 99 often leads to the stereotype that everything is interchangeable on these models, but as it turned out, it is not. There are also small but significant nuances. The length of the rear belts is 2.3 meters, but sometimes there are belts 2.1 meters long. Initially, I thought that it depended on the manufacturer, but it turned out that some people simply put belts on Samara from a VAZ 2107. I couldn’t find a photo on the Internet of the installed coil of the 08-09 model, and when I measured it with my neighbors, I didn’t think of taking a photo, but based on the angle of inclination belt that goes from the coil to the mounting bracket to the stand, it can be judged that the coils are at different angles.

The main purpose of seat belts (SB) is to provide reliable protection for the driver and passengers in the event of an accident. You should fasten your seat belt before you start driving, including when moving around the city. Not only the driver, but also the passengers must buckle up.
Unbelted rear passengers create an additional threat to the life of the driver and themselves in the event of emergency braking.
There are rules for using RB:
- You cannot fasten several passengers with one seat belt;
- It is prohibited to restrain a child sitting in the arms of a rear passenger;
- There should be no objects between the person’s body and the belt that could
- injure the body in emergency situations;
- The RBs should be smooth, without twisted places, and well tensioned.
Large amounts of clothing create bulk, which reduces protection.
For the rear seats, as well as for the front ones, three-point, self-winding RBs are installed. They are mounted on the side of the body. In the middle of the rear seat there is only a two-point lap belt, the length of which can be set manually. You can install rear non-inertial RBs, but they are inconvenient to use, since they have to be wound up manually each time.

Two-point seat belts can still be found in the back seat of some cars. They were equipped with outdated Russian car models. There are both waist and shoulder versions of such belts.
The lap belts look like safety belts on airplane seats. They do not restrict movement, but can cause severe spinal injuries and even lead to paralysis.
The shoulders are fastened diagonally. The top point is located on the central pillar of the side of the cabin. The lower one is a lock installed between the passenger and driver's seats. This type of belt is not reliable enough, since a person can “emerge” from it in an accident.
Three-point seat belts are installed on almost all modern cars. The V-shaped diagonal-waist design promotes uniform distribution of the energy of inertial movement between the parts of the torso.
Four-point seat belts are equipped with sports car models, the seats of which have four attachment points. Together with five- and six-point ones, they represent the group of the most reliable seat belts, but cannot be installed on ordinary cars due to design features.
Static seat belts are not installed on modern car models. The wide strap that forms the basis of such a belt is a piece of synthetic tape of a certain length, which is manually adjusted. This design does not meet modern safety requirements.
Dynamic seat belts are equipped with a special mechanism that evenly extends or retracts them with smooth movements of the passenger. With a sharp jerk, the belt is fixed, due to which the person’s body is held tightly in the seat.
