The pistons are cast from aluminum alloy. Two compression rings and one oil scraper ring are installed in the head. Until 2021, the pistons of the VAZ 21126 engine were plug-in, despite the presence of small recesses. When the timing belt drive failed, the valve legs were bent, and the engine required expensive repairs.

The valves are driven by two cam camshafts located in the cylinder head. Hydraulic compensators are used to automatically adjust the gaps, which simplifies maintenance and does not require manual adjustment.

- The piston pin can be knocked out only after the piston is securely fixed. Place it in a vice and give it a few blows with a hammer. We recommend marking the working parts of the unit so as not to get confused while repairs are being carried out;
- To remove the crankshaft, you will need to remove its bearings and then remove the beds. Repair and assembly are carried out in the reverse order.

The dimensions of the car are something that needs to be taken into account when purchasing, since the dimensions of parking spaces, garages, turns or entrance arches are not always universal. The height is measured from the extreme point of the front to the extreme point of the rear bumper. The width is measured at the widest point, and the height is measured from the surface of the ground to the highest point of the roof. Roof rails and racks do not fit into the height of the body. The engine received a lightweight connecting rod and piston group.
