One of the main events of MIAS 2018 was the presentation of the new Lada Granta family, which was presented in four body types (sedan, liftback, hatchback and station wagon). The price of this car has remained virtually unchanged, but the model has received a lot of updates. All the features of the new Granta are presented in the video.
LADA Granta – configurations in 2020-2021
Production of Granta began back in 2011. Initially, the sedan version was released based on the Lada Kalina, later a liftback appeared. And in 2021, Kalina and Granta were connected and Granta began production in various trim levels.
Having undergone changes in 2021, the car has noticeably freshened up. The headlights have become the same as those on one of the older versions of Lada Vesta.
This article will discuss the main changes in the Lada Granta 2020-2021, namely equipment, engine, gearbox, and I will write a personal opinion.

In the Russian Federation, a new modification of Lada Granta costs between 488,000 and 682,800 rubles . Produced in 7 configurations. The price at dealerships depends on the selected version and additional options.

Features of the packages

However, AVTOVAZ does not indicate a number of changes in these tables. For example:
- The “sport” button is only available on trim levels with AMT (“robot”).
- More expensive trim levels have felt fender liners.
- Simpler versions do not have external plastic trim on the doors.
- In simple configurations, the turn signal repeater is located not in the mirror, but on the wing.
- The heater and air conditioner knobs are flag-shaped (on more affordable versions) or round (on more expensive ones).
- The gearshift lever, depending on the configuration, can be simply plastic or more beautiful and shiny.
- The liftback now has a strap for closing the fifth door.
- The part of the hood (which is closer to the windshield) is slightly raised to prevent dirt from getting on the glass.

Technical characteristics of LADA Granta 2020-2021
The car's engine is eight-valve, with a power of 97 horsepower. The five-speed gearbox is the most reliable, repairable and universal in Russian road conditions.
The power unit of the new Granta is more high-torque. Fuel consumption has increased within reasonable limits. If the old versions of Grants spent 4.9 - 5.2 liters of gasoline per 100 km, then the new ones require 5.5 -5.6 liters per 100 km. Depending on the time of year, fuel consumption increases. For example, in winter, to travel 100 km, a car will need 6 - 6.2 liters of gasoline.
The 106 horsepower engine also has a five-speed manual transmission. But of course, it is faster and more expensive. On lower versions of cars, the price of this engine is more affordable. A robotic gearbox is cheaper, but in a metropolis, a full-fledged automatic transmission is the best solution in terms of convenience and control.
Adjusting the driver's seat
I would also say that the adjustment of the driver's seat in the range of 40 mm is also convenient. The rain sensor is an indispensable assistant during slush and unstable weather. You don't have to be distracted by cleaning glass. Exterior mirrors are heated and equipped with an electric drive; gear shifting is as comfortable and convenient as possible in city traffic.

Of course, this car does not have perfect handling, but it is well suited for Russian roads. The Lada Granta has a durable suspension, excellent ride quality on uneven surfaces, excellent cross-country ability and good handling despite the height.

Automatic transmission
Provides classic AT functionality, the most comfortable gear shifting and driving in city traffic.
Suspension
Grant is not a champion on the race track. It does not shine with refined handling on the “parquet” floor. Here it is reliable in taxiing, but no more. But in Russia there are few truly smooth roads. To understand Granta's abilities, we need to shift the coordinate system. How to compare a car with a ground clearance of 195 mm in running order and 160 mm when fully loaded? Yes, with a single-wheel drive crossover!
The Granta has an almost impenetrable suspension, excellent ride quality on crushing and undulating surfaces, excellent cross-country ability for a single-wheel drive and very good handling for such a tall passenger car, and even with high-profile tires.

The car is 3926 mm long, 1700 mm wide and 1500 mm high. The wheelbase of this car reaches 2476 mm, and the ground clearance is 145 mm.
Separately about the engine
The updated model of the Grant family received an 8-valve power unit with a volume of 1.6 liters. A new connecting rod and piston group is used here. In addition, the engine received a modernized crankshaft and gas distribution mechanism.
As a result of such design changes, engine power increased to 90 horsepower. Thanks to this, 80% of the torque became available at a speed of 1000 rpm. Such innovations can significantly reduce the frequency of gear shifts and significantly reduce fuel consumption.
The motor of the updated model is more durable and unpretentious. For example, here there is no longer any need to adjust the valves until the mileage reaches 90,000 kilometers.

The side part of the body is quite simple in design. The large headlights and spoiler-shaped stampings also look simple. The rear bumper does not have fog lights or reflectors. The interior decoration is minimalist. The finishing is made from cheap materials. The console houses an audio system with a single-color display and climate control with three dials. But the instrument panel is made with high quality. It is worth noting the presence of daytime running lights, tinted windows, 14 inch steel wheels and a spare wheel.
Cars produced from 2021 to 2021 will be equipped with the ERA-GLONASS system with an emergency call button located on the ceiling.

Practicality and ergonomics - these two factors should make you turn a blind eye to the shortcomings that are revealed in the interior of the inexpensive Lada Granta 2020-2021.
The front row of seats received new upholstery, lateral support rollers, larger headrests, and noticeable support. Top modifications are additionally equipped with seat height adjustment with a range of up to 4.0 cm.
Starting from 2020-2021, all Lada Granta models will be equipped with the ERA-GLONASS system with an emergency call button on the ceiling.
The basis of the new product
The prototype of this car will be the third generation Renault Logan. The Lada Granta will be built on the basis of the CMF-B/LS, but the Russian version will be characterized by a simplified design. The Renault-Nissan concern plans to unify Lada and Dacia cars with each other to reduce production costs.
By 2025, all these models will be produced on a single platform. AvtoVAZ's own developments will not be taken into account. The new car will be almost identical to the new generation Renault model.
On the other hand, some simplifications will be made to the design. Thanks to this approach, the car will be more affordable on the Russian market.
