Any modern internal combustion engine operates by igniting the fuel-air mixture. To prevent dust particles from getting inside the engine, the air intake system is equipped with a special filter. For each car, the manufacturer develops its own air filter that meets the design features of the engine. But over time, the air filter becomes clogged and loses its properties. Accordingly, it needs to be changed.
Replacing the air filter on a Lada Vesta car is not particularly difficult. But for some reason, many car owners forget to do this in a timely manner. If we talk about the replacement interval, then the Lada Vesta air filter must be changed after 30 thousand kilometers. But if the machine is used in difficult conditions, then the replacement interval must be reduced by 2 times.

Replacing the air filter on a Lada Vesta car
Now let's move on to the replacement itself. It’s not difficult to do, so everything can be done even if you don’t have a garage. Unlike previous Lada models, Vesta does not require tools to replace the air filter. Everything is done with bare hands.
1. Open the hood and find the air filter housing.
2. Squeeze the latches along the edges of the cover and remove the air filter frame along with the filter element.
3. Remove the filter from the box and install a new one in its place.
4. Reassemble everything in reverse order.
That's all. You can do it in 2 minutes.
Progress of work on replacing the Lada Vesta air filter
This work is not very difficult, so it can be done without a trip to a car service center. The original comes with a Renault filter number 16 54 605 09R. On the market this filter costs about 700 rubles. Undoubtedly, this is too expensive for a domestic car. Even for a new Toyota Camry you can buy an air filter cheaper. And it will be the same original. However, there are less expensive filters. I chose the Nevsky filter NF-5590c, which costs about 250 rubles. This is quite a high-quality filter of domestic origin for quite reasonable money. He took it.
When I first saw the engine compartment of Vesta, I thought that the filter was in a black box that stood almost in the middle of the engine. Even then I thought that some kind of large filter was invented at AvtoVAZ. But I was glad that it had latches and would be easy to change. But a little later I realized that I was a little mistaken and the filter is not positioned horizontally, as we are used to seeing on previous AvtoVAZ models, but vertically, as is done on most Renault cars.
So, first of all, open the hood and find the air filter housing cover on the right. Still needs to be removed. This is done simply. Simply squeeze the two latches and pull up.
The filter is pulled out along with the cassette. This is what it all looks like:
We insert a new one in place of the old filter and install the whole thing in place.
The lid should click into place. That's actually the whole replacement of the Lada Vesta air filter. Do you agree that everything is very simple? Such work can be completed in literally 2-3 minutes without tools or other waste of time traveling to the service station.
Removing and installing the actuator of the switching mechanism of the robotic gearbox of the Lada Vesta car
We prepare the vehicle for work. We place the car on the lift.
We disconnect the resonator pipes 1, Figure 1, inlet from the air intake and the air filter housing, use a 10mm head to unscrew the two fastening bolts and remove the resonator.
Using pliers, press out the clamp 1, Figure 2, fasteners and disconnect the upper hose 3 of the crankcase ventilation from the pipe of the cover 7 of the cylinder head.
Using a Phillips screwdriver, loosen the fastening clamp 2 and disconnect the intake pipe hose 4 from the throttle pipe.
When performing operations, removing/installing the gear shift mechanism actuator is not allowed:
— disassembling the actuator, except for cases when it is impossible to remove the actuator from the gearbox without disassembling it;
— the actuator falls; if it falls, the actuator must be replaced;
Installing a new air filter housing
From July 2021, AVTOVAZ began installing a new engine intake system on the Lada Vesta family of cars. One of its elements is the air filter housing assembly, which is supplied complete with a filter element. A new filter is installed in this housing, which has a larger filtration area and eliminates air leaks.

Secure radiator 3, Figure 7, of the engine cooling system with two clamps 2 to brackets 1.
Connect the inlet, outlet and steam exhaust hoses of the radiator of the engine cooling system to the corresponding pipes and secure with fastening clamps, Figures 3 and 4.
Install new hose clamps to the upper cross member of the radiator frame and the bracket on the gearbox.
For vehicles with air conditioning
Install and secure condenser 1, Figure 6, air conditioning system on radiator 2.
Operations for all vehicle trim levels
Install and fix the air deflector 2, Figure 1, on the radiator.
Install sensor 1, Figure 2, of ambient air temperature on air deflector 2.
Connect the air intake pipe to the air deflector.
Removing the old air filter housing
Removing the standard intake system takes a few minutes; you need to unscrew the two bolts that hold the receiver (see photo above) and one bolt directly next to the air filter housing itself:
Now the intake system is not held in place by anything, however, in order to remove it you will have to unscrew and remove the battery. In fact, it is not necessary to completely remove the battery, you just need to unscrew the fastening bolts and tilt it towards yourself a little so that you can pull out the intake system, but if you completely dismantle the battery, it will definitely not be worse and you will have extra space for maneuver.
The photo above shows the fastening parts that need to be removed from the dismantled filter housing and installed in the same places on the new housing. In addition to these two washers, there is another small rubber on the right side of the receiver that also needs to be transferred to the new equipment.
Which is the best air filter for Vesta
The filter model has no correlation with the engine size of the car.

In 2021, there are mainly 2 types of air filters on the market:
- Cardboard filters. This is the most popular and affordable air filter that can be purchased at any auto store at a low price.
- Synthetic fiber filters. This type is more modern and reliable than its cardboard competitor. You will have to pay more for this device. These air filters require precise replacement intervals.
Air filters differ according to their operating principle:
- Inertial filters are outdated and are now practically not used anywhere. They served as the main element of protection for a long time, but were not reliable.
- The inertial oil filter copes with its task more effectively. The basis of cleaning is engine oil.
- Paper filters are a simple device based on specialized paper.
- A filter with zero resistance allows you to increase engine power. But the filtration quality is not the best. Used primarily on sports cars.
Each driver chooses the required level of protection based on his financial capabilities. You should not skimp on the filter, as this will lead to expensive engine repairs.
Factory filter: article number and price
Factory spare parts are always the most suitable for the car. The article number of the original Lada Vesta air filter is 165460509R. The spare parts dealer is Renault, manufacturer MANN+HUMMEL. The price of the original filter is from 650 rubles.
Analogs
Not everyone is ready to buy official products. Some people are not satisfied with the price, while others want better quality. Therefore, concerns offer a variety of analogues.
The PILENGA company offers customers its Pilenga FAP2180 filter at a price of 350 rubles. However, this model has a number of disadvantages: a thin padding polyester layer and not the best quality filter paper.

Another representative of the market is BM FA2180. The average price of a product is 200 rubles. Reviews note that the filter element is no worse than the original one.
For those who love high quality and are willing to pay extra, MANN-FILTER offers an excellent filter element C27030 at a price of 850 rubles.
Air filter functions
A mechanism such as the Lada Vesta air filter is simple in design and an important part of the engine system.
The air entering the car contains a huge amount of sand, dust and other dirt. A high-quality filter serves as a “shield” for the engine from debris from the external environment.
The air filter in Vesta is also used as a noise insulator in the intake system of the car.

The Vesta air filter is necessary for the normal functioning of the engine.
When this spare part becomes clogged, the resistance to air flow increases and the amount of air entering the engine is reduced. This leads to increased fuel consumption and reduced engine power. A high-quality Lada Vesta Sport air filter solves this problem.
How much does a filter cost for Vesta?
For a new filter for his car, the owner will have to pay from 200 to 1000 rubles, depending on the model of the device, as well as the material of the filter element.

Fans of car tuning often update not only the protective device itself. They replace the regular Vesta air filter housing with the Vesta Sport air filter housing. This manipulation allows you to improve the intake system, but it costs much more than simply replacing the element.
How often should you change the air filter?
According to the regulations, the filter in the Lada Vesta needs to be updated every 30 thousand kilometers. But if the car was regularly used in polluted air conditions, then a competent specialist recommends replacing it every 20 thousand kilometers.

The device must be inspected regularly. If a spare part is dented or broken, you need to replace it with a new one, regardless of the service life of the filter.
